A list of songs that I cannot help but scream the chorus to:
Limp Bizkit – My Way = I’m in some evil SAW movie set up, and if I sing the chorus, people will die. This song starts up. A bead of sweat appears on my forehead. I try not to listen. I try to block it out, but then…there it is.
“I’m ‘a do things my way. It’s my way! My way, or the highway.”
Check out…check check…out my dead people.
Three Days Grace – Everything About You – Only when I stop to think about it.
“I…hate every.thing a.bout you. Why…do I…love you?”
I don’t really even like the rest of this song. I just wait for the chorus, and then scream it, and go back to ignoring it till the next round. I find it ironic that the very title of this song is exactly how I feel about it. Crazy, right?
Oasis – Wonderwall – The song is amazing to start with. I sing the entire thing, but I get really loud on the chorus. Like…even if I’m standing in the middle of Food Lion, I sing this one at the top of my lungs. James too. And no one stares at us.
“Because maybeeee…you’re gonna be the one that saves meeee.” “And after all, you’re my wonderwall.”
Kaiser Chiefs – Ruby – I know this one is subjective, but I not only sing this chorus out loud, I also smile and generally feel good about life for a few fleeting moments while it’s on. The rest of the song is nothing at all, but the space in between, finding out what you’re called, and repeating your name….
“‘Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby
Do you, do you, do you, do you
Know what you’re doing, doing, to me
Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby”
Beck – Loser – I still can’t pronounce the spanish word he is singing here, but I always gloss it over and sing it in bastardized phonics, just as loud as I please.
“Soy un perdedor. I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?”
I looked Soy un perdedor up one day. It means “I’m a loser.” I was like…”Oh! duh…” I’m probably the only person in the world who didn’t know that. *hangs head in shame*
The Used – On My Own – It’s not ‘exactly’ the chorus I scream at the top of my lungs, because he really DOES scream the chorus, and my vocal chords are abused enough, but God I love this part…and I love the way he sings it. What a haunting voice. Of course, with mine screaming over him, you don’t actually get to hear him, but trust me, it is.
“Without it all,
I’m choking on nothing,
It’s clear in my head,
that I’m screaming for something,
Knowing nothing is better than knowing it all.”
30 Seconds to Mars – The Kill -You say you wanted more. What are you waiting for? I’m not running…from you. You, with the black hair and black eyeliner around pale blue eyes, I’m singing to you….
“Come…break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished…with you.” (you, you, you)
More later. 🙂
